Day 029 · Morning
AI Daily Brain Dump — August 12
Today's focus: organize the work, improve the systems behind the work, and turn finished projects into proof.
I have a few different things moving right now, so the goal today is to clean up some of the chaos and actually ship.
1. Wedding / Spiritual Brand Website Redesign
I'm continuing work on a website redesign for a wedding officiant and spiritual/personal-brand project.
The big focus is going back through all the existing notes, strategy, feedback, and content and turning that into the actual website experience.
That means:
- Cleaning up the site structure
- Improving the branding and visual direction
- Making the mobile experience stronger
- Tightening the messaging
- Improving local SEO opportunities
- Making sure the wedding side and personal/spiritual side can cross-promote without feeling like the same brand
A lot of website work isn't really "design."
It's taking a mountain of scattered ideas and figuring out how they should actually live together.
2. Build a Better Client Management System
This is something I've needed for a while.
Right now, information can live in email, text messages, notes, call transcripts, documents, project folders, and random conversations.
I want one place where I can open a client profile and immediately understand:
- What we're building
- What they asked for
- What decisions have already been made
- Important emails and conversations
- Meeting notes
- Files and links
- Current tasks
- Next steps
- Project history
Basically:
What did they say? What did I promise? What's next?
Eventually I'd like AI involved heavily here so I can search across everything conversationally.
3. Get the Call Transcription Workflow Working
The next piece connects directly to the client system.
I want my calls to become usable project data automatically.
The ideal workflow is:
Phone Call → Recording → Transcript → AI Summary → Decisions → Tasks → Client Profile
Instead of finishing a 45-minute call and trying to remember everything that was discussed, the system should already know:
- What changed
- What the client approved
- What questions are still open
- What I need to do next
This is one of those AI automations that could actually save a meaningful amount of time instead of just being AI for the sake of AI.
4. Turn a Finished Custom E-Commerce Build Into a Case Study
The development work on a recent custom printing/e-commerce platform is basically finished.
Now I need to stop treating "finished development" as the finish line.
The project included things like:
- Custom product flows
- Ruby on Rails development
- Spree Commerce customization
- Product configuration
- File/image handling
- Manual order review
- Invoice/payment workflow
- Production workflow
- Cloud deployment and infrastructure
- Responsive UI work
The interesting part isn't just that it's an e-commerce site.
The business doesn't operate like a normal "add product to cart and ship it" store.
The workflow is closer to:
Customer Request → Artwork / Order Review → Approval → Invoice → Payment → Production
So the case study needs to explain the business problem first, then show how the software was designed around the actual operation.
Today I want to:
- Capture final screenshots
- Document the original problem
- Explain the workflow
- Show the technical decisions
- Highlight the UI/UX work
- Add the live project
- Publish the full portfolio case study
One thing I'm realizing:
Developers can spend weeks building something legitimately interesting and then give it three screenshots and one paragraph in their portfolio.
Then wonder why nobody understands the level of work that went into it.
So today's rule is:
Build it → document it → explain it → publish it.
I'm thinking AI Daily Brain Dump becomes an ongoing series where I document what I'm building, what I'm automating, how I'm using AI in actual client/development workflows, and at the end of the day compare the plan against what actually shipped.
