Day 036 · Morning

Busy on redesigns, light on the AI portfolio

Project · Life of AI — in progress

I audited the public writing for empty promises and published the longer reckoning as a Thought: [I have been making empty promises to an AI portfolio that is not here yet](/thoughts/i-have-been-making-empty-promises-to-an-ai-portfolio-that-is-not-here-yet).

The short version for the journal: I have not really been focused on the direct goals.

What is true today

PrintFetti is wrapped. It is not in production yet, and that is fine. Waiting on go-live is not a reason to keep the work invisible. I can still write the case study from the finished build and be honest about staging versus production.

Client finding took a lot of time. For what is set up right now, landing one client — maybe two — is not terrible. It also is not the whole scoreboard. Lead gen can look like progress while the AI portfolio stays thin.

I am busy. Website redesign and related visual work are real. They just are not the same as knocking out the apps and public proofs I kept naming a month ago.

The gap

A month into this stretch, I expected a clearer AI portfolio: finished applications, visible demos, case studies that do not require me to narrate every repo. Some pieces exist. Lead System counts. Life of AI counts as process infrastructure. The portfolio I talked about in Day 011 language — multiple distinct proofs, open-source starter, portfolio-ready apps — is still mostly intention.

That is the empty-promise pattern. Name the real goal. Fill the days with adjacent work. Repeat.

Next without a new fantasy plan

No oversized restart speech today. Three concrete moves:

  • PrintFetti case study — publish proof from the wrapped build even before production.
  • App time — protect real slices for products meant to become portfolio surfaces, not only client redesign.
  • Lead rhythm — keep the pipeline moving without letting search-and-outreach eat the only hours that could ship an app.

If the next updates are mostly more redesign status and more “I should build X,” the audit failed. If they show a case study or a bounded app slice, the week got honest again.
